“A Romantic Horror” is an illustrative sculptural installation that explores the notions of reality, intimacy and fear. It delves into and highlights the multiple dimensions of truth and being. The artist creates romanticism and fantasy only to then doubt and question it. The ultimates are facing each other: permanence and fluidity, intimacy versus fear, and fantasy facing reality. There is a double sided mirror hanging from the ceiling, one side solely reflects the viewer, the other is before the female torso. It creates a binary in which the viewer is forced to deal with the reflection of their own reality, knowing there is a fantastical image reflecting on the other side. The romanticism is present but is accompanied by the tensions of searching for the real self.
